Canon iR C4080i: Characters disappearing

Problem:
Printing on a Canon iR C4080i. Some of the page prints fine, but then characters begin to disappear, rending the printout unreadable.

Solution:
Go to Properties / Printing defaults / Quality / Text / Details
Uncheck both boxes. Do this not only for the text settings but for all settings.
